Hello,

I was wondering if anyone is familiar when breba crop typically ripen in the Sacramento area.  We just moved here last fall and got the end of many great wild figs, but weren't here for the start of the season.  About 30-40 trees we've cataloged are all packed full of breba figs, but are still very green.  I think I may have read to expect somewhere around June, though this season seems early for many fruiting plants.

This is an early year in CA. Some of those pictured figs will be ripe in June. Don't know if any will be ready in late May but it's not out of the question.

One year they were even ripe here in mid June. We had 25F that year in May and ripe figs less than 6 weeks later. But that tree is in a favored location.

If I recall correctly, I've picked breba around 6/23 and main crop one month later of some varieties.  You might be a few days earlier than me since I have cooler evenings down here in the delta.

thefruitnation,

Hello

Welcome to the forum  I have a question for you if you don't mind.

Are those 30-40 trees you've cataloged and packed full of breba figs, similar to the fruit shown on your picture ? or are they all different ?

I do have a breba like fig very similar to the ones you show on the picture with those recessed eyes protected by yellowish scales, and about the same fruit shape.

I am very far from Sacramento but can safely say that I may have some brebas ripe before the end of May. This as a result of a rather mild season with good rains at the right timing .
