Nice. I had my first Vista breba today. Very distinctive. I love the clusters at the end of the branches in your video.

Thanks Joe. It gave me something to look forward to in the next few years when my CT VdB matures into a real tree! :-) Joe in Athens GA

Thank you Joe for sharing! VdB is definately different from what we know as Negronne over here in Europe. My Negronne is from a Baud/France strain and the leaves look not even close like yours. So i would doubt that Violette de Bordeaux is the same as Negronne...

Christian, This tree was given to me with the name Violette de Bordeaux. The tree produces several different types of leaves. Here are photos of leaves from this tree. Please excuse the glare. Some people say that Violette de Bordeaux, Negronne, and Petite Negri are all the same fig. Some people say they are different. I don't know. This is the only one I am growing. This tree produces two distinct crops of main crop figs. The first crop ripens in June and July. The second crop ripens in October and November. The figs are sweet and tasty. The tree shows signs of stress in high heat. This is the birds' favorite tree.

Joe, I would never doubt your tree (which is absolutely beautiful) is VdB. Cause most VdB from overseas i see just have that leave pattern. Also the fig known as Petite Negri looks very similar or the same to me. All i can say they are not the same as the fig we call Negronne in Europe. Our Negronne has almost no fingered lobes...the leaves are mostly more like a mulberry... i wonder if our french member jdsfrance can tell us somehing about it. Thank you for posting that pictures!

Thanks Joe for another nice video. Every time you post a positive review it results in me buying another fig tree. Luckily in this case I already have a VdB.

Christian that is interesting information about Negronne. I wonder if the European Negronne you talk about is grown here in the USA under a different name? Thanks Bada.

Hi, I don't have access to vdb or negronne here ... Not enough cold hardy perhaps or whatever the reason... The only dark fig strains that I can have access to are "Ronde de bordeaux - bigtree" and "Rouge de bordeaux/pastiliere -small tree" .

Joe, As my plant is still very young (second season) i don't think a picture of the leaves will help right now, because of the changes as it matures... But i found some pictures from Negronne online from several nurseries: First one is from Pflanzenseiler/Germany Second one is from Hirtenweg/Switzerland Third one is from Baud/France Unfortunately not the whole three is shown. Description at Baud tells: -Synonymes : Figue de Bordeaux, Figue Poire, Petite Ambique.
------------------------------------------ jdsfrance, description of Negronne says very cold hardy, one of the best tasting figs. It is available in France as far as i know at Baud or Graines Baumaux.
