Hi, I have three cuttings in plastic bags with damp paper towels. My question is- how many roots should the cutting have before it is ready to be transplanted and how long should the roots be? Thanks:)

The roots don't need to be very extensive.  The longer and more elaborate the roots, the greater chance they will be damaged when you pot-up the cutting.  Once I see roots that are at least 1/4 of an inch long I go ahead and pot up the cutting.  The only exception is if you get leaves before roots then you might want to wait until the roots get a bit longer.

IMO, I agree with Rewton. I don't let them get long so they don't get damaged during potting.

Ok, thanks for the info, also one of my cuttings has little roots on it. Should I wait for more before potting it? Thanks.

Hi

It's great when we see any rooting in a cutting ....and when it happens I always feel that the job had a very good start.
Now for advice on repotting those cuttings it would help a lot if you could provide us with some pictures.
So far it's a good job

I used to up pot when I saw a small amount of roots but those seemed to have a greater mortality rate.  Now I wait until there are roots at least 1.5" long or so.
