After a year of reading and envying everyone's beautiful pictures, I can finally post a pic of my very first fig that I grew from birth (- last year I had a couple that already had figlets when I bought them so those didnt count)!! I probably could have waited another day or 2 for them to ripen but I was too excited. It was still tasty and my 2 yr old and I shared and savored it.

Thanks Gary, Armando is correct- it was a Violette De Bordeaux. It was much tastier than any of the brown turkeys I have had from the grocery stores.

Congratulations Tina.
That's a nice fig. My first VDB gave me a flashback of my childhood.

Your little one will now be asking for figs all the time, and circling the plant, looking for another tasty morsel :)

Nice fig
Dont lose hope on a well ripened brown turkey.
Commercial ripeness is far from the real thing..
