I'm from the old "earthworms can do no wrong" school so this article blew me away. They wonder how Alabama Jumpers got to Wisconsin without considering that gardeners might have bought them off the internet. Tighten up the fencing on your worm corral.

Never heard of such a thing, very interesting and shocking. Definitely do not want to use their castings.

Something else to worry about. Might be good on fishing hook.

Most folks do not realize that the earthworms they dig up in their yards are not the earthworms that were here before Columbus. S^%* changes. Nature is dynamic and doesn't wait for permission.

Yes! Conventional wisdom is that they can do no wrong. Now the scientists are saying this introduced specie is damaging northern forests. And, the funny thing is that the scientists can't figure out how they got there. "worms trapped in tire treads" yeah, right. You've got the guru of rain gutter gardening, from Minn., with a huge Facebook following raving about raising worms and lumping Alabama Jumpers in with the rest. You can but these thing by the pound all over the internet. Then you have the "worm tower" crowd who feed worms in pipes or buckets with open bottoms so the worms can range out from there into the garden... and where do you think the worms are really escaping to the wild from?

True these jumpers will change a landscape and can escape through a window screen, squeeze in under doors or out, etc.  In our case they have improved the soil in our yard.  Easy gathering them when it rains as they crawl up on the driveway and porch by the hundreds.
