Last week I read that people had some issues with this variety.   This week I joined the club.  I recently got a Kathleen Black that was rooted but not too much growth on top.  One tiny leave.  I put it with all my other seedlings and 5 days ago the leave fell off.  I decided to re-pot as I use the same mix on all my plants and this mix seemed to be holding more water so I had to be careful not to over water it.  The plant had only had 2 small roots so maybe it wasn't ready to support a leave.  I went ahead and re-potted it and moved it to my cutting bench in hopes it will survive but I don't think it will.  So is this not just difficult to fruit but also difficult to grow?

Sharon, covering the top will help the cutting both to root aggressively and leave out in the similar potting mix you are talking about, just water ONCE at the initial watering when you stick the cutting in the sea through pot and cover it with sea through pot. This way you can watch both the rooting and leafing :)

Hi Sharon,
So sorry to hear about the KB. Give it some time, it seems to start slowly sometimes. Hang in there and good luck.

Kathleen Black was one of my most vigorous cuttings to root this year. Perhaps I was just lucky but it also rooted and grew really well last year. Don't give up hope!

It's one of my best growers. But only has a couple figs.

Thanks for all the advice.  Aaron went I re-potted it I did put more of the stem of the cutting in the mix.  I will put a cover on it tomorrow.  Hopefully this is a minor set back and it will come back even stronger.  I hate losing anything.  Fingers crosses and thanks again for all the help.
