My RdB is one of the fastest growers for me as well.  It's in a 5 gallon SIP and has about 10 figs on it.  Mine is on its 2nd summer.

If you take a layer and plant it in ground it will amaze you with big growth and huge leaves, but if it dies to the ground don't expect figs that year.

I also got a tree from driveway farmer  last year. I immediately took and rooted two cuttings. Counting the orginal, those growing in 15 gallons, 10 gallons,3 gallons, sold, given away and now rooting the number probably is close to 40. This is the weed of the fig. Last fall there was a sell on ebay of one for $380.00. Not sure if the sell went through. I don't think future sells will bring much more than the more common varieties.

You guys that have found "driveway farmers" who sell fig tree's are so lucky.
I stop at all small farms and stands when I can, and have never seen fruit tree's for sale.

I just need to keep looking I guess.

*edit* I need to keep looking in these forums for my answers is what I should have posted.

Hahaha, I had just figured out after reading another post, that the drivewayfarmer was a member from F4F,
and came back to my post to edit out my response.

Thanks for the "quick" clarification.

I am above the canal, Hockessin DE.  T

I tried rooting cuttings this year and they died. I don't know why, all the conditions were the same as other cuttings that made it, it was like sudden death or something, growing fine & then dead. Very saddening.....

My Sicilian Red are doing Ok, currently have very good root development in 3 out 5 cuttings.  Leaves on the other two but no roots.
Trying to decide if the cuttings with roots can go another 10 days before going into cups, since a week vacation at the "shore" is coming up.
I don't want to take a chance of starting them in cups and find out 10 days from now when I get home that I either didn't give enough moisture,
or (more then likely) over-watered them. Roots on the three are between 2-4" long.  They are in ziploc bags wrapped in moist paper towels.

I guess as a Fig newbie, getting roots on a couple of them is a good start.  Or just plain lucky.

Well, didn't get mine from Driveway farmer, actually not sure how it came to me, but it struggles.  Maybe it loves the East Coast.  I have it planted here on the West coast in Mediterranean conditions, but it's not my fav.
