Hi guys, After moving to a place with a larger terrace, I am slowly starting to use the space to grow crop plants of the stuff I like. Having learned, that there are fig variants that can also survive harsh conditions, I am intrigued by the idea to also include them in my planting. As the Valle Negra seems to be the best combo of max.endurance, two fig periods and also tasty fruits, I'd like to try my luck with that kind of fig. The difficult question is: where to find one? I couldn't come up with any providers so far. A source in Europe would be idea considering that's where I'm based. I also have relatives in Italy who might be able to help me ordering there, but so far I also haven't found anything there. Does it carry a different name in Italy maybe? Thank you so much!

Hi and welcome to the forum. Valle Negra is a fig discovered in Italy, by Sergio, an italian fig expert. It may not be available in nurseries, just from gardeners who got this by exchanges... By a post of mnedelcu, Valle Negra could be similar with Napolitana Negra, which is widely grown commercially in Spain.

Hello, and welcom among us! I think what you are looking for is Valleycallda, aka nero600m. It was discovered by a very novel Italian man Sergio Carlini. A very good rain tolerant, and cold hardy fig. Valle Negra is an another fig, which was also found in Italy, but is more available in America than in Europe. Iif you are looking for Nero600m try to contact with Feigenbaum (Christian) he own this variety and he is also from Germany. A very helpful, and friendly guy.

Hey guys, thank you for your replies! I had read, that the Neapolitana might be identical to the valle negra, but as it didn't seem to be a real fact, I decided to go for the real thing just to be safe. Would a cutting survive travelling to Europe from the U.S.? Then a source in the U.S. might be an option as well. The vallecallda is not what I'm looking for from what I'm reading as there seem to be differences. cheers

Well, the question first would be anyways: IS there anyone with a valle negra that would be willing to part from some cuttings?

I might have an option for late fall from the U.S. If anyone is able to help me out earlier, that'd be great, summer is just about to start over here!
