Picture one is a fig tree I purchased as a Scotts Yellow. Turned out to be a medium sized black fig with really really great rich & figgy taste.

Pictures two, three, & four is a tree I collected in the Northern Neck of VA. It's a medium to large fig with a tight eye and flat bottom. Taste is toward the sweet side, although not overly so. It has a pleasant figgy taste, but not too assertive. The great thing about this tree is how very prolific and cold hardy it is. I rooted about 75 of these this year and grew them out mostly in 1 gal pots (My keepers are in  2's) and every one of them set figs at every node! The gentleman who owns this tree is the only one bringing figs to market this year . Although not as great in taste as Sals, MBVS, or RDB, (perhaps a distinction without much of a difference) I still rate this fig as a must have because of it's dependable production and cold hardiness.

Pictures five, six, & seven are pictures of trees I raised from cuttings I purchased as "Nero"  and rooted in Jan. Turned out to be this great medium sized green fig with the bright red center. Has a rich figgy/assertive berry taste. A definite keeper for me. I think I know what this fig is but would like a forum consensus before making up my mind.

All of them look like keepers. I think, but don't quote me on this, that some of the mislabeled Scott's Yellow could be Scott's Black? Maybe? The Unknown looks promising and the green needs to have a photo of the inside. Congrats, they look good.

My best guess is that the "Scotts Yellow" is really Scotts Black and that the green fig is probably verte.

Communication with the gentleman who sold me the "Nero" cuttings now leads me to believe it's not Verte but probably Ventura, originally sourced from Just Fruits and Exotics.
