Hi folks,
Here are a couple of photos of yesterday afternoon's fig harvest.  15 Ronde de Bordeaux, and 6 Hardy Chicago (Bensonhurst Purple).  Two of my favorite cultivars.  As you can see, I like to let 'em get really ripe.  Some of the more "overripe" ones were like jam.  Tasted great.  I'd rate this year's RDB crop as 10's, and the same for the Bensonhurst Purple.  Different taste obviously, but I like 'em both.

More pics will follow, either here or in another of the threads about these varieties.

p.s. they're predicting 35F tonight... gotta cover the trees... still LOTS of figs on them (a couple hundred figs that will still ripen if the leaves don't get frosted... lots of Conadria and Peter's Honey that are almost ripe, maybe 10 or 20 more HC, around 20 more RDB,  and a ton of VDB and Petite Negri, then a handful of other varieties with less than 20 per tree).  Here are pics:

Great harvest, congrats!  My young CH fruit just started turning color this morning!  Now I know what it will look like fully ripe.  Thanks for the pix.

Don't forget to drink water after all these great figs.

bTW Michael if you have a crop like that do you prefer to chil the figs for few hours in the refrigirator or eat them warm?
