RdB is being very productive this year and everyone is raving about its quality, I purchased 3 this last year and I am very happy that I did. Not super big on size but super big on taste. Congrats.

In ground since October. Covered with leaves and a tarp minimal damage.

That's good to hear... I have a couple figs from in ground plants that I know winter over well. I'm flirting with the idea of in ground planting again.

I planted close to 40 varieties in ground this year.

 Thank you Pete for sharing. Your pictures are a vicarious thrill for me.  I cant wait until I can taste my first RDB. Your success gives me more confidence to plant in ground next Spring.
  Thanks again to Ryan T. for the plant and Michael G. for the cuttings. They are doing fine and I hope to have air layers or cuttings of RdB  to pay ahead next year.  That's the beauty of this group.

Pete,

You may get to eat a lot of figs next summer.  I planted 8 trees in ground last June, and although they died to the ground, the new growth is over 6' tall and 6 of those tree are loaded with plenty of figs.  They've been slowly ripening since early September.  Lots more to go.  Hoping most will ripen before it gets too cold.
