Just thought it was dead. It sure did look dead after our first frost. Figured it was too young to take it un-protected. Now after a week in the bright room it lives! These leaves were nubbing buds just a couple of days ago.

I have a salavatski about the same size I have it in the ground though, protected, hopefully it looks as good as yours in the spring. Good luck

I think it got colder than they said it would that night. Where I cut the limbs back were completely black and shriveled. I was horrified lol. Hate killing plants out of neglect or stupidity on my part. It looked a lot better and was bigger when I got it. Thanks.

Hi Charlie, Ain't that pomegranate supposed to be hardy down to Zone6 ? If so I would suppose that it can handle -20°c with no problem ... Perhaps because it is potted or young , it doesn't resist for now . I'm starting to look at something else to add to the garden, and I'm still hesitating between a pom or a kaky or ... A neighbor had a kaky that froze down below the graft junction in 2012, so that scalded me for now - the tree is still alive ... well the rootstock that is... But if I can find something cold hardy in the wild in Zone7, I might give it a try ... someday . I still haven't seen poms being sold here ... in my Zone7 .

I thought it would be okay to leave it out for a "light" frost. It is a tiny thing, should have at least set it in the garage. My Fuyu, if it is a Fuyu, was set out as a dormant twig about 8" tall. It has never had any die back issues and never been protected.
