Yeah .... I got one!
This is the first ever fig from my Blackjack tree bought this past fall from Groworganic in Cal.
If anyone is familiar with the variety please confirm if it looks true to the name.
Although it felt nice and ripe to the touch with a crack on the bottom and a few small cracks on the skin ,the flavor was nothing to brag about. To my first figs defense, this is a very young tree a Breba fig and it has been raining buckets the past two weeks and I think that explains the watered down flavor. Very figgie, almost seedless and little or no sugar content made for a disappointing first one for the season but gave me hope that this is a keeper! The little guy is also popping out a bunch of main crop figs so I will give an update in a few months!
Thanks for reading and feel free to post your first one of 2015 experience !
Have a great growing season!

Congrats Chris, you're on your way. The inside does look like my BJ's but the exterior is darker on mine. This is last years figs, I've got figs now but they need a couple more weeks to ripen I'm guessing.20141030_151752.jpg   gu

Awesome, thanks very much Simon. My fig was a bit deformed hence the round look so I guess we'll be comparing the main crop!

That's a pretty nice fig Chris! Just curious, is that a potted plant or in the ground? My brebas are always less flavorful than the regular crop but when mixed with my oatmeal, banana and greek yogurt they are wonderful. 2 yesterday, 3 today. sdpops  Yuma, AZ zone 10  104 today  nice

Thanks pops. Potted in a 5 gal bucket! I'm trying to grow an air layer from the top and if it works I will be grounding one of them for sure but keep the other potted for the brebas. We get some late spring frost lately that tend to kill all Breba on the inground trees so... I will try them in oat meal when my PHoney ripen in a couple of weeks and give you an update!

Chris,
I'm not familiar with Black Jack characteristics, so I cannot comment on it.  Sure does look good though.
