Hello everyone,
My name is Larry and I'm a new member to the forum. I am pretty new to growing figs. I moved to southern Texas about 6 years ago and tried my first fresh fig! (I know, right!) It was like nothing I have ever tasted before. (can't even look at Fig Newtons the same.) so there's where my fig obsession started! So a few years ago I moved back to Northern Kentucky. I looked for fresh figs here and haven't found anywhere that sells them. So I decided it can't be that hard to grow. My first cutting was a brown turkey. It took off like wild fire and even got figs. In the middle of fall we had one night that frosted and killed it. So now I bring them in during the winter. I have 4 different varieties in containers. I am looking to expand my figs and learn as much as I can. Thanks for taking the time to read my post! Larry

Welcome Larry, I'm new here too and growing figs for a little while now. I had olive trees but, in a zone 6B climate in pots they don't do well unless you put them in storage for the winter since they are sub- tropical. Figs in containers aren't much different because your restricting the roots and well as cold air is blowing against the pot.i have lots of experience with trees and plants. I was also a student at chase rosade bonsai in new hope P.A. Again good luck and be well, Jeremy.

  Hello Larry,

Sorry to hear about your bad experience.  It happened to me too.  That one last frost was a killer.
I think it's our Rite of passage. [image]

Good luck.
