I have a Kathleen's Black, but it has not ripened yet and - based on what I've read about how long it takes to mature - I'm concerned it will be forever until I get a nice dark fig from the plant. I've read mixed reviews on KB once it does produce as well. I am considering buying a Rhone de Bordeaux to hedge my bets and I only hear great things about this variety as well... Does anyone have any advice on which variant to go with? Should I wait with KB or go ahead and purchase a RdB? -Phil

Hey Phil!
How old is your KB? If you had it for 2-3 years, it may be due this year. Mine was four years old and finally produced this year ( after some serious pinching). It was worth the wait, though. I also am a huge fan of rdb. I love it for our area because it meets the three criteria.
(1) it is early - first week of August usually.
(2) it is very productive and delicious.
(3) it is definitely hardy for our area.
I can send you some rdb cuttings if you'd like. I think if you have the room, you should have both! I would be glad to help. PM me if you want a few- they root easily, too ( so I guess it meets 4 criteria)
