This fig is from a second main crop. Very dark inside and outside, it shriveled on the branch and the taste was very berry concentrated. Surprisingly good for this late in the season fig, like a strawberry jam from a jar!
Very nice. It lasted about 1.5 seconds :)

It surprises me this season as I was ready to give it away due to average quality taste
over the past years. This year taste was superior.

Among other names, this fig is also known as  Douqueira Negra (Italie). It is a very highly rated fig and belongs to a class by itself.

Noire de Caromb is truly one of the best tasting black figs.  Just let it stay on the tree and start to wrinkle.  Man ole man is that a good fig!  It use to be the fig to get!  Now everybody seems to be after Galicia Negra.  Kathleen Black is another overlooked black fig.  But still an excellent fig.
