Ok, I'll check and night and see if I a can find anything. The next question is, what do I do to get rid of them? Is there a universal way to stop leaf eating bugs?

Jap beetles for sure. Their trademark is skelotinized leaves.

Does not look much like my cherry tree leaves - mine looked like brown lace when the Japanese beetles got hold of them. After some Triazide spray the new leaves look better. Yes, looks like Jap beetle damage. They have not bothered my figs, too many plum, peach, cherry and grape leaves to attack.

Ok, so I looked around, no Japanese beetles on the tree. I took pictures and noted a black ladybug like beetle with a red dot - could that be the culprit? Also, I noticed these eggs on the underside of the leaves - any correlation with that and something eating the leaves?
