Thanks! What is in the potting mix besides the pine bark mulch and the perlite? I did not hear you say what the original stuff in the mixing bin was.

It's just the retail organic garden soil. Not the potting mixes.

After 20 hours they did not show any signs of transplant shock.

Very easy to listen to and seeing takes the guess work out of the equation. Do you sift or wash the finer parts of the perlite out before you use it? I thought figs liked a more alkaline environment. Do you add lime in the mix the next time you repot? If those are 1 gal. pots, when do you think you'll need to go to a bigger pot? Will those cuttings be kept under lights this winter or be allowed to go dormant in a cold space? I hope you will answer these questions. Didn't have much luck with a broad enquiry previously. If you do not, guess I'll just have to wing it the best I can and not expect any feedback in the future as well... Might make learning a little harder and time consuming but I'm up to that.

I let the figs go dormant. I do not sift the perlite. I'd like to get the courser perlite but it's hard to source. I just eyeball the mix and don't stick to precise measurements. Here's a link to information on fertilizing a fig tree at the bottom of the page.http://www.figtrees.net/

Nice video. The real question is: how do you get such robust roots and leafing out in a cutting in just 18 days? The BM went into the cup 5/2 and out on 5/20? That's amazing. It takes me closer to 45-60 days to up-pot.

The cuttings went into the sphagnum moss on 5-2 and into the cups on 5-20 so they were in the cups for over 60 days.

Thank you Tom for the info. I will plan on letting the young ones go dormant in October along with the bigger ones.
