I got to eat my first Ronde de Bordeaux today and it tasted so outstanding . It really was better than most real Jam! So Sweet... I usually cut the Figs in half and give my Wife the other half, but just saying...LOL..She still don't know what they taste like.... ;) If you don't have Rdb, you have got to get it, by either beg, buy, borrow or steal a cutting or a plant, it really is that good!....... :)

Congrats Frank. Looks delicious. I just got my first cuttings and your report makes me all that more nervous. Maybe next year this time I will be reporting similar success. I can live with that. Thanks for sharing the nice pic and review.

Yea! Congrats bud! RdB, in my opinion, is one of the top tier figs. Very distinct flavor, and it ripens earlier than most other varieties. It's widely available so everyone should get this variety!

Good job, Frank. I got my RDB from Louisiana. It was quite large growing in a 3 gal nursery pot. It had a small fig on it that later dried up and fell off. This happened after I transplanted it to a #10,000 nursery pot covered in cedar mulch chipped here on the farm. The root ball was so compacted it took about 30 minuted to unravel without damage. It likes its new home.
Next year I'll be right up there with you guys eating RDB's. :)

Frank, now you're hooked! I finally let my Lyndhurst White figs stay on the tree longer until they start to wrinkle. The wife says they're too soft for her but they are super sweet that way.

I'm glad everyone loves their rdb's but in my yard for some reason they are just ok, I have 2 from 2 different sources and in the last couple of years I've only had a handful that actually taste real good. Most were just ok at best. Hopefully that will change soon.

HooRay for you, Frank. I'm with you, a great fig. I like it enough to have 2 in ground and another in a large pot. Hope to get enough to make a batch of RdB jam.

How does the taste of RdB compare with VdB? I've heard so much good about both! Is one more cold hardy?
