It’s my understanding it’s a local unknown collected by the Arabic community somewhere overseas.

Mine is potted into its 2nd year. Fairly vigorous, put on figs that stuck the first year but did not ripen in time. Hopefully they will this year,

@ KK -- did this originate from Rafed/Dan ? If yes, it was originally thought to be Lebanese Red. Later
on it was change to Israeli Red. Hope it's beauty is just as good as its taste.

I had to pick one to see the inside. The last 3 that made it this far disappeared. Surprisingly good taste for an unripe fig.

Looks like it is going to be red. Notice the slight red all around the edges on this bird pecked fig

I have a young one, with two red-eyed green figs on it that I doubt will make it before the first frosts. Probably won't taste it until next year. Beautiful pics though, gives me something to look forward to!

Yes, it's a very pretty fig but the taste for me is disappointing: watery with a hint of sweetness but otherwise without much flavor at all. My little 1-2 year old tree has produced three figs so far. I think the only reason it could be popular besides being beautiful is that it has a sturdy skin that is easy to peel and would protect it for shipping and marketing. The bland taste would appeal to people who don't like figs. My MBVS and Unknown Pastillere were ripe at the same time and were so much more intense and better tasting even it they weren't as nice looking.
If it's the same next year, I'll need to find a new home for it.

Mine was rooted in December 2014 and I sold extras but my tree produced quite a few figs for me this first year, I'd guess around 10.  I thought the flavor was pretty good, especially for a young tree.  The skin was not particularly thick on mine.

If any one is looking for some of these cuttings, I have three extras. They are very easy to root, even for a yutz like me, so if you are a novice and practicing rooting and want some confidence, try this one. The fruit is very good, too. It is late in the NE, but it is a nice end to the season. PM me if interested in them. Thanks.
