Greenfig,

I will be attending Foothill for sure and am deciding between LA and OC. Have you been to LA or are you apart of that chapter? I'm really trying to find a chapter to join and LA chapter isn't actually in LA. I have some ties to OC so the trip out is a good excuse for a day trip but if you tell me LA is the place to be, I may sway that way.

Jen,

I wish I knew which one is better. The Foothill is much closer to me, if I go, that would be it.
I am not a member yet, sorry, cannot tell you what is the difference. Maybe I could ask Richard Watts or so, he is a long time member.

   Jen,

  If your itching for a road-trip, you'd be welcome at the Sacramento exchange.  Several of us from NorCal and Nevada are meeting together for the exchange...  we'd even spring for lunch!   LOL!!

Yes, mwawrzyniec! This is a. Great opportunity that we can enjoy here. If you can ever make a small vacation out of it, perhaps consider a trip here. Maybe you can find a decent airfare?

@Greenfig and Jen,

I'll be attending the LA scion exchange. If you had to make a choice regarding which to join I'd go with the L.A. branch.
Foothill meets every other month,L.A. monthly. The L.A. branch tries to alternate between meeting at the Sepulveda Garden Center
and running field trips to members gardens or other points of interest. If figs are your primary interest R. Watts is a long time member of
the L.A. branch and is generous with his knowledge. As far as the upcoming scion exchange L.A. dwarfs Foothill in variety available.
Fortunately, unlike the O.C. exchange this year, you don't have to choose between the two in as they are held on different days.

Cheers

I agree with Tyro that if you are into figs, the L.A. Chapter is your best option between that and Foothill. But you are welcome to attend any of the different chapter meetings, regardless of which you register with. They are open to the public. The only exception is for fieldtrips. For liability, you must be registered with that chapter.

For anyone wondering what to expect here's a good video:

Out of the three I went to last year, O.C. was the biggest as far as scion exchanges go, especially for avocados. As far as figs, L.A. and O.C. had a similar amount to choose from, but different varieties. For me, it was worth while going to both.

45 minutes into the scion exchange. Figs had one table

Edited to add the photos from my phone
