I have read a lot about figs4fun forums. I wanted to be part of this forum. I have tasted ma first fig in 2015 from farmers market which didnt impress me. Still i got addicted to figs. I have few fig varieties and looking for more. After that i have tasted a small unknown fig, half eaten by bird And half ripe. But it tastes better than the farmers market one. The varieties i have now are Vdb, rdb, karpenisi, celesta, black madeira, melta black, nero 600, sals corlene, lotarolla, malta black, marseilles black. Looking for galicia negra, varsilika If there are any must have fig varieties, please let me know. I am from Charlotte NC. I have noticed few fig growers in charlotte. I want to get to know others and learn more from them. I love seeing the plants and enjoying them. I am more of tropical lover.

For me, Smith and Adriatic JH. Without question. Both are cheap and have been well tested within the forum community. They root easily, perform well, and taste great. I can speak from personal experience on their flavors and I will grow these for the rest of my life. Also, LSU Purple was surprisingly good for me in its first year. Sweet, a little bland, but good - better than most first year figs. However, I've read so many posts where people say it becomes outstanding around the time it hits ~5 years old. Emerald Strawberry/UCR 143-36 is also dependable and performs well even in heavy rain. It also has a thick skin which has prevented ants from ruining the fruit. Also user snaglpus lives near you, I think, or at least in your part of the country. Welcome! You've gotten good advice. Wait to get the more expensive figs until you've had some experience growing figs and they the expensive ones come down in price. There are really great ones listed above that are much easier to get. __________________ Zone 6, MO Wish list: Galicia Negra, De La Reina - Pons, Genovese Nero - Rafed's, Sbayi, Souadi, Acciano, Any Rimada, Sodus Sicilian, any Bass, Pons or Axier fig, any great tasting fig.

Hello from Canada and welcome to the forum Bunti! Looks like you started with a nice fig collection. Not sure how long you have been growing figs? I would focus on growing these as best as possible and really savour all the diverse tastes and see where that takes you. Thank you for warm welcome. Today i have got 2 more varieties from rolling river nursery. Desert king Pananche I have contacted Dennis. Waiting for his reply. My fig collection has just started.
