I am re-intriducing this wonderful fig for the archival records. I'll find the original introduction story and edit this thread... The mother tree is on a street called Isabella and, from the looks of the trimming pattern, looks like it's under some expert's care but I couldn't find anyone to get the story of this tree from. I still don't know if this is a Unifier or Bifera Variety, I'll follow closely again after breaking dormancy. This is the mother tree at dormancy in January Leafing in March these pictures were taken on first week of August, seemed like almost end of harvest season Looks like rainbow coloration, when overripe, the skin gets thin but somehow leathery but still, even the skin, very sweet. The tree has the ability to hold on to the crop, even if they start drying on it. Very figgie aroma and sweet/caramely taste 9 over 10 in sweetness scale. Overall, I was very impressed by the complex and multilayer flavor of this variety. I am glad I found it.

Love,5hat the branching is some what colored like,the fig. Love a cutting from that guy there. Loojs very high quality. Seen this leaf shape before. Has almost a ice Crystal leaf just a little on some leafs. Nice find Aaron, looks like a Paradiso ,brunswick leaf patern with mission looking fruit! Is it a given that all figs in that region are pollinated ? I know it is fig wasp territory ! The pulp looks typical of a pollinated tree or at least how I picture pollinated figs to look! Thin skin,very meaty pulp, maybe a Syrian variety? __________________ ChrisK Atl GA Zone 7b-8a

Hi everyone, thanks for the comments. Richie-This tree is in Glendale, Los Angeles. Mike-I wouldn't be surprised if you found many forgotten varieties in your area, You also, probably have wasps in the air at all times. Christo-Most probably pollinated. -I'm not good in Identifying ...so, can't name it until my Fig Variety List is complete. (It will consist of information Strictly grown in Los Angeles) Richie-The leaves are common shape. I highly doubt if it is Ice or Afghan..sorts, given the fact that the leaves of those two are finer in pattern in edges and overall smaller in size. I would doubt if it is Nero 600or400 ...sorts, given the fact that those two have only recently been introduced to US. I might be able to get and distribute cuttings of this tree. First: Blessed permission from the owner!

Thanks Aaron. Just got some ice Crystal stated has just a bit of growth but is growing so thats promising. Going to be a challenge to figure this one out. Hey all! This is what the Isabella unk looks like as we speak. It was started as a cutting a year ago and it is three feet tall with a smaller branch about a foot tall coming out of the bottom. Thanks guys. I received a package with eight Ukns and they all rooted very easily. Aaron made sure we all got some very viable and fresh cuttings With at least three nods each. All of them made it to the single gal pot stage , two were killed in a cat vs squirrel battle( some luck huh) ,the third just wilted and died at about a foot and a half tall( root rotted)and by the end of the summer I was left with five very healthy plants. Isabella , Mary Lane, Sherbourn(maybe Dauphine ), Nardine and my most favorite "Sultani"! Well guess what.. My Sultani dried up and died ..just like that . My only casualty this winter was one of my most prized trees but I did receive a few other awesome trees from some more awesome forum buds so , no complaints. Fig rooting and growing has its moments so we have to except the great along with the crappy ones! Thanks for reading and commenting. As per one of Aaron's friends ,The Isabella mother tree has been cut down so it is no more.. If and when mine matures I will make sure to send cuttings and spread it once again.
