I saw this Jungle Book movie last weekend and saw something very odd.  It appeared that a large cluster of fruits which was picked was made up of figs.  I'm fairly sure that if it was figs, whoever made the prop had no idea how figs grow.  It had two colors of fruit, one looked like a Panache and the other was dark red.

Does anyone know if that's a real fruit or if it was a badly designed prop?

You expect a film that has animals from different continents cohabitating in the same jungle to get a fruit prop correct?

That movie is 100% CGI, the kid is acting in front of a green screen. The fruits you see aren't props but graphics someone made on a computer.

Life is usually not quite as interesting as the movies.  If it were we wouldn't need movies.

I know of one fig tree that has 2 different colors of fig, so it's not that far off.

The new Jungle Book movie IS in fact accurate.
Figs CAN grow in clusters on this African fig tree, ficus sycomorus.

The Queen of Trees

Enjoy!

Thank you! The fig cluster in the movie looks a bit different, but this confirms that it is not way off base.

Amazing!

Actually, I think chad is right.  The Ficus racemosa actually has two colors of figs and is native to india.  It looks very similar to the movie prop. Thank you both for informing me.
