So I thought I was gonna beat mother nature by building a greenhouse attached to my house for my figs and citrus. I got tired of winter killing most of my plants. while I got home from work the other day and found my ventilation had failed and the green house was so hot it cooked a bunch of my figs. I have around 40 potted figs that were enjoying a great head start but now.....They all wilted down pretty bad. They have bounced back a bit but a bunch of them look like its mid october and the leaves are hanging low and darkening like they are gonna drop. My cuttings all poop now, leaves dried right up and died, all my garden seedlings all gone. I'll start over i am used to it but I am concerned about my larger potted plants that look like they are going dormant. Its been a few days but im nervous they will continue to get worse and die. Anyone else go through this.

Thanks

Mike

Looks like a common mishap that every one with a greenhouse will experience

I cant believe how sensitive fig cuttings are, too hot, too cold, too dry, too wet. I swear, if you look at these things wrong they wilt......

I have to make some changes in my green house but fingers crossed I dont lose my larger potted figs. Only got a few figs to try last season but was hoping to get a bunch this year with the head start from the green house. This added stress to the plants probably wont help the cause.

PeterC your right the cuttings are high maintenance but one day.....

I love my greenhouse, but it does require me to go home during my lunch break and adjust vents if the mornings are cold and afternoons are hot.  I haven't explore an automated option yet, but it's my first year using a GH so I like learning how to manually manage the environment.  They do get stressed easily though.

I picked up a window fan today that I will wire into a thermostat. I figure it will really help exhaust the hot air outside instead of cooking my room. Trial and error lol.
Thanks
