Possible fig mosaic infection

Hie all, i have recently added the white Adriatic fig to my collection. It was bought from a nursery and when opened the box, it looks sickly. (it was posted on friday and i just got it today on Monday.) The potting mix was not dry but not overly moist. I was wondering whether its confinement in the box for that long caused its appearance? its leaves are noticeably lighter are curled inward and have light spots (see below) __________________ Figs are fun ******************************************************************* Growing: Brown Turkey, Black Genoa, White Adriatic, Mystery Fig, Deanna, LSU Gold, Dwarf Brown, Pink Jerusalem , White Genoa, Unknown Honey fig, Yellow Excel Wanted: (I think i've reached my fig quota.....for now :). )

yep im in Oz. I bought it from Diggers club and im in Victoria. My brown turkey and black genoa don't seem to be going into dormancy yet. So do i just pot it up, give it some seasol and and leave it alone with the occasional watering? Thanks for the advice. its beginning to get colder with a couple of warm days every now and then. The spots look similar to fig bud mite symptoms. You need strong magnification and good lighting to see them they are so small, at this stage where the plant is entering dormancy most have probably moved inside the buds which will make it even harder to see them. I would treat that plant before introducing it to the others. They spread FMV from plant to plant and mess up the quality of figs so you really do not want them. You can clip those 2 leaves, or wait for them to fall, and spray with dormant oil to smother them in the buds. __________________ 7a, DE

What kind of treatment can i use? Neem or any oil that is safe for plants should work to smother them, I can't really advise on how much to use or how many times to apply. I found them during summer and used miticides because treating them on growing plants is more difficult. Do you expect to have any freezing temperatures this winter? The mites can also be killed by cold weather, not sure how long it actually needs to freeze though. __________________ 7a, DE
