This fig is in its 3rd season and is growing in a 5 gallon SIP.  This variety is thought to be related (or identical to) Longue d'Aout.  NB and LdA are my most upright growers.  I harvested the first ripe fig off of this one on August 7, 2016.  As of today none of the LdA figs are close to being ripe yet.  I don't know if that is a real difference between varieties or just differences between these two plants this year.  The NB was had a meaty texture with subtle flavor tones of caramel.  It was not really a berry profile to me.  It also wasn’t overly sweet.  I left this one on long enough, I thought.  There was no latex when I picked it.  Maybe next time I'll push it a bit longer and hope the ants/critters don't find the fig.

Note: I edited the title of the post to correct misspelling of Niagara.

I was thinking this morning as I was eating steel cut oats with brown sugar, walnuts and raisons, that "brown sugar" is perhaps a more accurate descriptor of the flavor than "caremel".  Either way, a very tasty fig.
