i had gotten this from Lowes for $3 several months ago
its really taken off and looking healthy.

i was looking at my Black Mission, and the leaves seem very similar.
there are differences however.
the tip of each lobe separates into 3 on the Mission
on this plant it does not.

It also does not have the "redish" coloring at the terminal bud
like the Mission does.

Both this one AND the mission have small fruitlets on them
right now !
is this normal timing to start producing fruit ?

Both plants are very young
The mission is about 18 months from a 6 inch plant
(supposedly tissue culture)

this one from Lowes was 1ft tall 6 months ago !

all pics are of the "unknown lowes" plant
(except the yellow leaf is B Mission)

I have seen Black Mission with leaves like this, but they could also be leaves from other varieties, such as Brunswick.

They are NOT the quintessential Black Mission leaves, but there seems to be a lot of variability.

did you mean the one i wanted ID for
Or, are you saying the one i have labeled as Black Mission (Yellow Leaf)
is actually not ?

Do you (or anyone else) have  BM leaf to post ?
ive used google images, but often people dont know what they have
i would rather trust this group.

thanks
Brad

Here is my leaves, I have 120 black mission trees planted In ground now. I tried to pick the most common leaf patterns. Top leaf is my Wal-Mart black mission, similar leaf pattern to the bottom but has red stems. Bottom two leafs in picture were from California mission tree.

Condit mission.

Narrow leaf mission pics from F4F pictures database.

Last picture: My black mission that was long narrow fingered last year, but changed to mostly short fat fingered, when it came out of dormancy this spring.

Trying to ID a fig on leaf pattern alone is frustrating. Since some seem to have a adolescent leaf pattern that changes as they mature.

Be sure to post when the fruit ripens.

The picture that Condit shows is a standard black mission. The production trees here in Fresno all have that shape.
