My MBVS tree is huge this year.  Seems like every time I walk around it, I notice another ripe fig.  I found this very ripe one hiding under a leaf near the trunk today.  It was the first time seeing syrup ooze from a MBVS so I knew I had to get the camera out!
I swear, the taste was damn near what a Preto would taste like.  It was like black cherry kool-aid.  The taste didn't linger like a Preto, but was the BEST mbvs I've ever had.  They're never this rich.  Too beautiful not to record.  Enjoy.

Can't call it fig porn 'cause it's artistic, but I certainly wanted to watch more of it ;)

Looks nice!  Is the tree in ground? Is it hardy in 7a?

Thanks Rui.  ;)

ohjustaguy:  Yes, this tree is in the ground.  3 years old and very productive.  I don't winter protect it, but it has died back 2 out of the 3 years.  Always comes back, reaching near 7' tall as a bush.

The years it died to the ground and grew back did the fruit ripen as well?

Yes, it will start from the roots and still give me 100-200 ripe figs each year!

Very nice! I convinced my family in NJ to plant a couple of "cold hardy" figs 2 springs ago. The Chicago Hardy had no damage and set a lot of fruit this year for them. The Florea fig died to the ground and came back strong but not many figs on it. Neither were protected. They are young so I'll give the Florea another year to prove itself but if it does the same maybe Marseilles Bvs will be a good replacement.
