Yesterday we were at a church garden in Cary, NC and saw two unusual varieties of figs.  Could someone help me identify these two fig varieties.

Tad, very interesting! The tellowish one almost looks like a guava. Does anyone at church know anything about it? Have you tried any of the figs?

Unfortunately no one at the church knows the history behind the three fig trees.  All they know is that periodically people would come by and donate the fig trees and leave no history about the tree.

The size of the browner fig really amazed me - I have seen none of that size in the area.

Unfortunately the Church Garden will be bulldozed for a church building in then next 24 months.  They will take fig cuttings in the next three months so as to propagate the trees but they are really hoping someone can identify the variety of fig.

Tad,  

I have no idea what kind they are.  I am in NC though and head to Cary from time to time.  Please feel free to contact me prior to the destruction of the trees so I can preserve a sample.  If they do well on Cary, then they may do well on the coast here as well. Also, please sample some fruit and post pictures and reviews.  I am very curious about what is growing over there, and that fig's eye is quite unusual.l

Wish list:  Galicia Negra, Violetta, Violette de Sollies, Dan_la's Black Beauty 10, Craven's Craving, Most important: YOUR FAVORITE FIG. A lot of people put emphasis on popular/exotic cultivars, which is great because it highlights some of the better fig varieties; however, I am most interested in the figs our members love regardless of pedigree.

SuperMario 1 - Hoping to get an identification from our Fig Forum before they disappear.  Asked the Church Garden Custodian for a cutting when they rip the trees out.

Hey I leave from Cary in eight days for a week at Myrtle Beach, SC.  Usually drive to Wilmington and then take coastal 17 in to Myrtle Beach.  Do you have any recommendations for places to stop to see unusual or rare fig trees.  I know about the Golf Course in Myrtle but someone was telling me there are fig trees in Calabash.
