Dalmatie is not undestandable fig.
To start producing fruits it require 3 years in my zone 5 in Ukraine (Europe), but after autumn frost next morning after summer heat tree was almost dead in sping. Most of new growth was from soil level and these new branches are full of fruits. Pls see photo

Once Dalmatie starts producing it is great. 
It ripens quality figs even after it cools off in late October.  Xlarge super sweet and dark (blood) red flesh and tasty.

The better you protect it in winter the more figs you get!

My 3 in ground Dalmatie trees are loaded again this year as they are every year.

My Dalmatie is a bit cold sensitive and doesn't like too much full sun, I nearly killed the thing a few times but it keeps surviving. Definitely a slow grower, can't wait to taste it ...

Hi Serge,
Show us ripe fruit when time comes. The leaves are border-line for Dalmatie. The fingers are too long and deep (a bit too brunswick-like) ... But with young stems... who knows ...
Depending on what you're planning I would pinch that stem now. It looks like it wants to grow some feet/meters more and now it is getting late for that for this year.
The tree is yours, and so is the decision to guide it a bit more, of course.
My Dalmatie, if frozen next to the ground, does not have time to ripen the fruit the same season in my Zone7.
It just happened once, when she was young. Since then I protect her a bit, and she's stronger now. She's a good producer, and produces a bit earlier now.
And because she likes to sucker ( a bit ), I have 5+ more trees, 4 started baring fruits last year.

This year, the brebas all ripened (from solid green to dry-ripe) in 7 days ... while I was away ... Damn it !
I just managed to get 5 (out of 40) that were a bit late because they were shaded by leaves and upper canopy!
Now waiting for the maincrop !

It seems that there are at least 2 strains sold under the name Dalmatie. On one the brebas have a blue line all around the flesh- maincrop fruits are smaller; for the second the fruits are bigger.

Yes there is a dark variant,of Dalmatie,just like Vladis is showing,leaves and dark interior are the same,same good taste and flavor,i just never found myself one,but in the USA there are a few people that have it.
Not so well known,sometimes it is called San Pietro dark,when the specimen was originating from Italy.

I think there is left about 2 months befor real cold weather and stop ripening processes.
Previous year we had early frost 7 october, usualy later, geting ripe till middle of October. I'd say 50/50 will get ripe or not.
jdsfrance - pls see photo of my Dalmatie from 2015. It is a bit late for my climate. Breba was big, main much smaller.
Pino - no black Dalmatia in Ukraine ;)

Timo,there is no error. In the garden of a farmer, where Brown found Dalmatian, only 2 varieties of figs. 1. Dalmatian. 2. Sabrutsiya Pink - a hybrid of the NBS.

Vladis, I believe you that there was not a mix up. I just wanted to ask your opinion about this Brown Dalmatie possibly being the same fig as Brunswick. The shape and the color of the figs look very similar to Brunswick. Brunswick and Dalmatie also have the same type of long fingered leaves.

Timo, Ин.Далма .Браун.2.08.02.16..jpg  I have already written above. Tree varieties bear fruit Dalmatian 10-11 years. Then, on the same branch began to grow fruit with brown skin on figs. Farmer multiplied cuttings from this branch with brown figs.

Timo, I have grown both Brunswick and the Vasilika Sika originally from Belleclare.  The latter is supposed to be synonomous with Dalmatie.  Although they both have long-fingered leaves, the Dalmatie leaves have thinner fingers.  In addition, there are other major differences: size of ostiole, growth rate, pulp color, fruit shape, etc.  Here, the Brunswick is very prone to splitting and insect damage.

Hi Steve,

Thank you for sharing your experience with Dalmatie and Brunswick. I only have 2 young trees of what I believe to be Brunswick. Hopefully splitting and insects will not be a problem here. I really like the taste of Brunswick figs.

Timo, real problem for Brunswik is wet weather, rains spoiled half of breba crop on Brunswik...

I'm from Dalmatia,

we call this 'Dalmatie' variety you know of - Bilica, and we do not have a black variant of it

is dalmatia (dalmatie ??) is it the same as magnolia and brunswick this is so confusing well spring is selling a delmatie/brunswick/ magnolia ?? what the heck ??

These are different.
Dalmatie is green fig.
Brunswick is more brownish and can be spoilled by rains which Dalmatie will not notice.
Both are not very early in my climate and late enough for most of main crop. And I plan to exchange these for earliest or breba varieties.
I do not have Magnolia which is said to be simmilar to Brunswick.

We take chances by doing anything, even when we are birth :)
You will be glad with you Magnolia or get rid of it...
As for me it is better to exchange or to purchase from reliable person.
If nursery is big it means more people and more chances to get something wrong.

I read online that magnolia is a Texas fig that was bred for canning in the factories; pretty sure in the 20's.

He has Dalmatie! I'm pretty sure Dalmatie is the real name and Dalmatia is a typo or a name for Croatian figs.
