...You ever just want to kick yourself? This is the second year I planted "Cardinal Climber" seeds. They didn't flower last year or this year, but the leaves were so pretty is why I grew them this year. Beautiful long fingers reminiscent of Ficus Ice Crystal. Above (Ficus Ice Crystal from the web) Below ("Cardinal Climber") Below (Closer view, leaves almost a foot long) Today, I ran across this picture. Don't the leaves look similar to my "Cardinal Climber"? Why, yes. Yes, they do. Unless I'm mistaken, and please feel free to correct me if I am, while cleaning the garden for winter it appears I tossed two perfectly healthy papaya plants into the trash. I guess these were the seeds I saved from a grocery store papaya and not the "Cardinal Climber" seeds I bought. I even gave away one or two of these plants because I loved the shape of the leaves and wanted to pass on the prettiness. I'm happy to say I do have one small plant left, but I wish I had seen that picture earlier. Below: (Small potted plant) This is not my first offense. There was a plant growing at the base of an evergreen that I cut back for two or three years before I realized it was a tree peony. Can anybody confirm that this is a papaya? Has anybody made a similar mistake?
