upper 60's here in Southern California near LAX. Some are already complaining about the "cooler" temps, but i guess we shouldn't.   :-)

33 degrees here in Dayton, Ohio.  We drove up from Cary, NC on Friday - ate at a McDonald's here in Ohio at 9:00pm - 72 and beautiful - 12 hours later 32, snowing and howling winds.

At least I was smart enough to take eleven of my new potted cuttings with me so they would not have to take the cold in our garage in Cary.

I must say hasn't gotten cold for me in LA yet. Been here this time a year. It isn't cold till it hits 0 degrees out below. I miss the snow? I keep saying we need a good 2 ft. Snow like we would see in Chicagoland.

You prefer 0 degrees compared to low 30 degrees. I think you fig trees beg to differ. ;-)

Glad to hear they are doing well for you! I hope they produce for you next summer. I think we are only registered zone 3 because every 10 years or so we get a -40F January storm. Most years we don't break -28 which would put us at zone 4. It's just those few weeks in January lol

I know the figs don't like the cold even the miss named "Chicago Hardy". Turned out not to be that Hardy in Zone 5. I didn't know I would miss the cold until I moved to LA. Don't miss moving 5 gallon buckets with Figs trees to over winter in buildings.

Mike

We got down to 32 degrees in north Houston night before last, but still no frost yet. And we're back into the 50's for lows right now.

its 83F in Kenner right now.
shirt off taking pics of my fig trees
still with fruit on them.... :)

coldest night we had was in the mid 50s, then, only for a few hours.
running the air conditioner right now.

all still have fruit except the Black Mission, but, it only had 5 all summer, its still small.

Most are loosing leaves however, except the Black Mission has only lost a couple.
I am wondering if this means it will hold more fruit longer  when it gets older ?

a younger tree i have with no ID is holding several still...

No ID...

I've seen a second mission strain running around with leaves like that. But without fruit pics it's hard to say for sure.

I think with any tree mass produced for orchard plantation there are bound to be variations cropping up. All the strains from what I have heard react about the same to heat and to rain, and that's the important part I suppose?
