I have approximately 10 cuttings that I am rooting under grow lights at the moment. They all have leaves but no roots showing. Is there any way to encourage root growth?

Rooting cuttings in light only encourage leaf growing. They will die when all the energe in cuttings used up. You have to put them in dark to encourage root growing, so that they can get nutrient to get to the next step to have leaves. That is how I grow figs from cuttings. You have to keep them humid rather than wet to avoid rotting. Good luck!

I've only been rooting cuttings since earlier this year but have done probably 50 by now. I've always put them in a north facing window in indirect daylight. No problems....I still don't get the need to root in the dark....I do like to see roots first but as soon as I see a hint of a bud I get it to as much light as I can and the green takes off.

I totally disagree on.the light comment. Roots need dark sure. But as long as the soil is evenly moist, not overly wet and swampy, they should root fine. It just takes time. I ran a test with cuttings with no direct light, no grow light and I had 98℅ failure on a sample over 100. My normal success rates are well over 50℅, but some varieties root easier than others. Keep the room temp below 70 if you can, I root mine at 60-62° and it works great. If you wrap everything above the surface on grafting tape that hekps prevent drying out. Most important is don't over water, too much humidity can cause mold and lights are a must.
