Hey all, do any of you have this one from Willis. I'm still trying to figure out if it's right. You will see that the leaves are both three & five lobed. About the size of Celeste and looks like Celeste(maybe it is). Pictured side by side in the last picture Celeste on right). They taste very similar, but the Celeste is richer tasting. I have a real IE(small) from a good fig friend to compare, but that'll be next season. What do you guys think? Thanks Doesn't look dark enough according to Jon's site. |

Mike that is true about not knowing if we both got the same fig. The ones I received from Willis were beautiful trees-was three years ago so, maybe before things went too far South. The Vdb & Panache I got are right on, but worried about this one and the Black Jack. They both look the same to me whatever they turn out to be. Let me be a lesson to all newbies out there: 1. Take your time 2 Buy from reputable people I never started out wanting a bunch of unknowns and who knows whats, but it is just my nature to be trusting of everyone. Wish I'd have done the two things above from the very beginning instead of being stuck with a mess. Okay, I'm off my soapbox, lol! |

The important questions are: where did the cuttings come from? Did they propagate their plants, or is that contracted out.? If I had 500 Panache cuttings from my tree (probably doable) that still isn't a commercial quantity. 10,000 might be - but I would need 20 trees under my direct control to provide the scion. If you do not control the source of your cuttings, then you do not control your product. That assumes that you are concerned about delivering the correct product. If the business ethic is lacking, then the situation is even worse. |

Thanks Jon, I agree totally. Seems few people have integrity anymore when it comes to money and figs just scratch the surface. I'm glad we have people like you and many others on these forums that are interested in doing things right.(The Old Fashioned Way!) |
