Yesterday I went to a friends house for a visit
we got talking about figs
I didn't know that he to had a fig tree he says that its about
five or six years old and he got it from and older co-worker that had retired and was moving to a condo and couldn't take the figs he had with him
anyway we where talking about figs and the different varieties and he begged me to find out what this one is
I took some pictures of it and told him I would post it in the Fig Forum and someone will probably knows what its called
there will be a few cuttings coming out of this tree its one nice looking fig
love the colour

It is one good looking fig. I hope someone identifies it.
If it is already ripening in Zone 5b then it may be relatively early ripening fig variety even though I have learned that winter hardiness zone does not accurately translate into summer heat conditions and fig ripening patterns. Two identical winter hardiness zones can widely differ in summer heat and fig ripening patterns.

I hate to say it but it looks a lot like my Brown Turkey :D

I am going to say Sicilian Red.

So... wht did they taste like?

Sometimes my BT has figs which are almost as red in color as those pictured, they are that color about 3-6 days before fully ripe, and usually if I pick early they have that same strawberry color inside, if I really let them get jammy, shrivelled and cracked, they are more tan inside.  They also have a larger eye as you show, and the neck/top is always greenish yellow.  My camera takes dark pictures, so they look much darker than they are, but here:

Grant: I tasted this fig and it was sweet but mild and juicy fig flovor 
he keeps is fig tree well watered I told him to hold back on the water a little to let the soil dry up a bit before watering again

But overall its is one nice looking fruit there are a few more figs on the tree and I will be visiting a little more often for the next couple of weeks if you know what I mean
the tree needs a bit of pruning so there will be a number cuttings I will be keeping a couple and one other member will also be getting some if there are anyone else interested in a couple of cuttings please let me know i will try to get you some

  

Look at the main leaves if they are mainly three lobed very good possibility Sicilian red. also the fig should be very round. not oblong in shape. Here is a photo of my Sicilian red

Jason: the pictures that you show are vary similar to the figs I saw I will have to go back and take some more pictures of this tree
I'm still going with Al's Sicilian red for now until I see more ripe figs

Akram: you always have a compromise Red Brown Turkey in a worst case scenario it will be Red Brown Turkey
