So I decided to see if I can get some cuttings to root.

Im using small spring water bottles with holes drilled in the bottom.

The "soil" is a perlite/pine bark mix.  The ones in the water are just waiting for a bottle to become available.

I've cut all the leaves off except for 1 on each cutting.

Anything i'm doing wrong so far? Any suggestions? How often do you water?

Make sure they do not get direct sunlight and be sure to cut them from those corrugated bottles. Trying to shake them out will damage the roots. You should probably improvise something to maintain an elevated humidity. Good luck!

I would take them out of the sun and put them into a covered plastic storage bin with water in the bottom to create humidity, it worked great for me.

Try rooting the others outside in the shade, works for me.

Tenting with a plastic bag or bin really helps as others have suggested. But as Brent suggests, it iss so humid outside tenting might not be necessary

Ditto on the bottles. Those ridged sides would be a problem if you don't use a box cutter or scissors or something to remove the plants for transplant. But be careful cuz at that stage the roots can be damaged or cut. I've thought of using straight-sided tennis ball cans (with the top ridge cut off), but already have something else at hand to use.

My plan was to cut the sides of the bottles when its time and peel them like a banana to replant.  I figured the bottle was a nice way to repurpose something that was headed for a landfill. The other thing I liked was that they were used to hold water. So no residual chemicals from a past use

With the exception of "Barry's Unknown" the cuttings are BT and Celeste. Im planning on giving them away to future fig-nuts as a way to pay it forward for the kindness shown me by members of this board.

@Brent and Rookie: I'll probably bring them outside when I get home from work and put them under the sugar maple.

In regards to watering: How often do you water your cuttings?
