FMV is probably in every fig tree everywhere to some degree. There is no consensus and those that recommend destroying infected fig trees obviously don't grow and collect figs. There are ways to propagate figs that are FMV free and hopefully soon we'll start seeing these widely available, but for now it's safe to say that every fig out there is to some degree involved with at least one of the viruses that display the symptoms of FMV. |
