I up potted several 1 gallon plants that were in Root Pouch fabric pots to 3 gallon pots today. When I cut open the bag I noticed several things such as: |

Root pouch makes different grades, some for short term and will break down in a season for in ground planting, I don't know if those are the ones you're talking about or another version, maybe these can help reduce the cutting of bags for you? |

I bought all three grades to try. The one pictured is the middle grade. The figs will outgrow the bags in 5 months or less and since they are going into a bigger pot I can't plant the bag. Definitely a believer in these bags. I will follow up at the end of the season on the 7,10, and 20 gallon bags. |

Thank you for the pics. I'm using air pots for my 1-3 gallon trees and fabric pots for anything larger. They look great. Gives me confidence moving forward. |

Have you given any thought to the 45 gallon bags? I thought about it but I thought they would be difficult to move in the end, the 1 gallon worked well for me with results like yours so it was an interesting idea. |

I use SmartPots for most all of my trees & plants. Instead of cutting them open, I just peel the fabric off the rootball and am able to reuse the SmartPot. It's probably more stress on the roots than cutting the pot, but it saves some money and I haven't had any problems up-potting. Perhaps because it forms such a strong root system and the roots are getting air pruned at the fabric regularly, anyways? |

I am use 1-3 Gallon air pots. 3 quart to one gallon rootmaker pots. So far I like them very much. I submerge the pot in water and then let drain on another bucket to catch extra water. Yes at first the fine wash out of the post, when I pick them up out of the bucket of water. but I just refill when needed. After time this stops. Both pots can be reused and seem very sturdy. The rootmaker pots are made here in the USA I think. I will post later this fall as how the roots look. |

Maybe you can reuse your cut pots. Maybe you can pin the cut sides. |

Chivas- the biggest I am using is 25 gallon. Anything bigger will be too hard to move. |
