I've been documenting leaves for my records and future comparisons. Attached are a few current pictures. They are not odd looking (except for the giant Black Jack leaf), just a means of identifying cultivars at different stages of growth. |

Would it be possible to develop a drill down database for the identification of 'Unknown varieties' using leaf shapes, growth characteristics such as fruit shape, fruit size, exterior and interior fruit colors, etc.? From reading the forum, it would seem that it would be possible to get down to a limited number of suspects if not a positive identification of a variety in many cases without resorting to a plant's DNA. |
