Already there are a couple of bird pecks. Have they no shame?

Nice try Frank. I have one breba on my RdB that is ripening and I just put the bird netting over mine.

I was very successful in using the fruit containers for Black Mission figs from the grocery store.  A couple of notches (really only need one), and the clamshell the PN fruit by the neck, and not passing the branch through plastic.  The PN brebas were too big to work like that.  Reused the tape from the banana bunch to keep the clamshell closed.  If it weren't for the rain, I could have kept the best fruit all the way to true ripeness.  Of course, this method wasn't *really* proven, but the birds did eat other figs but not mess with the protected one for a short period of time before it rained for a week.

Frank next time I come to FL I will bring you my bibi gun lol. Also clear plastic strawberry boxes work good as well.

This has got to be a great tasting fig, judging by its popularity in my yard.

First the birds had a go, then the ants and finally me.

I'm with Pattee, can't wait. Meanwhile my miniature dachsy is doing what dachsies to best. He spotted a groundhog (as big as he is) near the figs, and tore into his hind quarters as the little varmint made his getaway.

that looks totally awesome. my RdB is just starting to put on figs. if weather holds up, it will be mid oct. when i get to taste some. looking back at my posts, mid/late aug. looks like will be my first fig of the yr.

I love the hawks feather idea. I had great results to keep birds from crashing into reflections on my West facing windows by threading a line of feathers  (a foot apart)  accross the span of those windows. I think you have the right method but the feathers must be loose enough to have motion. 
I've had the string of feathers accross my "killer windows for 3 years and never had a bird hit since then.    ...  I used multicolored dyed feathers..  was all i could get.

Well....the inside looks tasty.  

I ending up eating the last quarter of my HC breba that a bird left for me yesterday so your fig looks pleasing to the eye in comparison. ;)

Looks great, had a little laugh on the hawks feather.
Put a fake owl hanging on my porch with streamers and feathers to try to keep the swallows from building. 
What did they do? 
They builta nest on his HEAD!!!   ;o(

 I just had another look at the pictures of the ratty looking fig I posted and had an epiphany. 

Who else but a hard-core fig addict would put that thing  in their mouth?

Jimmie, these 8 ounce Styrofoam cups did not come with lids, so I improvised with foil. It seemed to work, but it was only for a few days. It did not deter the ants, though.
