Ok, I have figs ripening on my Hardy Chicago, some figs ready to pick again today from the Konadria, 20 plus trees growing in pots on our deck, three out back that I repotted, some Celeste air layers....and what did I " find" today at HD hiding among their sale plants? Yep, three Celeste, and two Brown Turkey. And, yes,,,I rescued the Celeste, along with a large Eastern Box Turtle crossing the road, but that's a different forum :- ) Here are some snaps of the new plants. Cost per plant was $20.00. Special request photo added of rescued turtle. Photo No.4 - repotted baby fig trees resting in back shaded garden. |

My Home Depot here in Edison N.J. used to sell fig trees up until about five years ago(nobody seems to know why they stopped)...so now I get my "box store" figs trees at Lowes...this spring(March / April) I picked up 4 trees (2 Hardy Chicagos, and 2 Kadotas)...they didn't look like much back in March(all shriveled up and dry looking)...for about a month I wasn't sure if they were dead or alive...by July they were all flushed out and looking beautiful...I gave 1 HC, and 1 Kadota to a friend who was just starting out with figs, and sold one to a fellow who stopped over and said he just had to have a Kadota fig tree...I kept the other Hardy Chicago for myself and have been enjoying delicious fresh figs from it since the second week in August...by the way I purchased the four original trees for $9.89 each. |

Added a fourth pix today of the three up-potted baby figs in their resting place in the back garden, mostly shade, afternoon sun, shaded with leaves. |

Down here we swerve or stop and move the turtles and frogs and try our best to run over the snakes. |

Had to repot the newly acquired, and very root bound BT, as expected. The sole remaining leaf looks nice as do all the full of life buds. Now, it needs to rest in the shaded area of the garden for a few days. |
