• Tim Drag has invited anyone interested to come to his home, in Chester NJ. Sunday September 22 for a  fig meet and greet. Start time 10:30AM. Burgers, hotdogs and beverages will be provided, bring food if you wish. Bring any fig starters or cuttings or any other plant material for trades or raffle. Wife and kids are welcome. Tim lives about 20 minutes from Bill's Figs and Italian Figs and about 50 minutes from Bass if you would like to visit any of them. You can send me a PM for details or contact Tim (Slingha) at Yuku.

What's Italian Figs?  I'm not familiar with it.

Nevermind, found the site.  Does anyone know if he carries any interesting or unique varieties?  The ones listed on his site are pretty common.

I've never personally dealt with Italian Figs, but have heard good reports. There variety is somewhat limited though. Victor, I will try to get direction for you

Thanks!  It's good to spread the love and it'll save me having to store all of these over the winter!

I did some research about hardy poms a while back and found that Salavatski, Kazake, and Entek Habi Saveh (this one) were purportedly some of the most hardy.  I've heard that Entek Habi Saveh is quite hardy but needs a longer season to ripen, so we'll see.  I know Bass grows Salavatski and has had quite a bit of luck with it.  These are grown from UCD cuttings so I'm happy to give them away.  Most rooted quite easily so I had extras.  If you'd like one, it's yours, since you're doing a good bit of work to help arrange the shindig.

Final bump. Tomorrow is the meeting. We should have a good crowd, some wives and girlfriends are also coming. It seems like most or all who are coming are bringing trees for trade.  I know we are supposed to get some rain tonight but it should be gone by early morning and then the forecast looks great. Looking forward to meeting all you fig folks!!

Great day, With wonderful people.I just want to thank everyone.I hope everyone enjoys the trees I brought ,I still have a lot more.

A more generous group of people I don't know if there could be. What a huge amount of very nice trees everyone brought!! Vic you especially brought a whole lot of really nice trees, literally a truck load! A perfect day weatherwise and a great group of fig folks had a great time today. So nice to meet more of members on the forums.

Went to the Fall Fig Meeting at Tim's house.  It was a picture-perfect, early Autumn day, and meeting some of the forum members was a real pleasure.  So many generous, and friendly people.  Dozens of named variety trees were traded and raffled off, and many interesting local, unknown/unidentified trees also were given away to those who attended.  One, first-time grower, proudly walked away with a bearing-age "Hardy Chicago" and he was eager to learn how to grow his first fig tree to perfection.  I'm sure he will do just fine, and will be tasting figs he grew, next season.

Plenty of delicious food, homemade fig cookies, fruits, snacks, sodas, etc. kept everyone happy and contented.  Just a wonderful relaxing day.

Many thank-yous, especially to Tim Drag and his lovely wife, for hosting this first Fig Conclave, and for extending their hospitality to the forum members.

PS:  Had my first taste of a perfectly ripe Pawpaw....it was absolutely delicious, and had the flavor of a creamy-custardy...banana-pineapple-peach!  Folks....this is a delicious fruit to grow!  Too bad you need at least two for pollination, have to wait a few years for fruiting, and that Pawpaws could be a PITA trying to grow them.  Otherwise, deliciously exotic flavor.  No fruit that you can by in the store can come close, except, maybe a ripe mango.

Hi, Everyone, We just returned home from the Fall Fig meet at Tim Drag's house. Thanks to Tim and his lovely wife Michelle, and beautiful children for graciously hosting this gathering. It was great seeing familiar faces and meeting some of you for the first time in person. My wife kept commenting on the ride back to Saratoga on how nice everyone was and how it was good to see so much sharing and generosity with each other. It was a perfect day. Good moment(s):
Everybody got to meet some old fig friends and more important; some/more NEW (former virtual-friends) other FF members.
It is good to put a face on FF users... Those name tags helped too.

Funniest moment:
There were tons of figs for the raffle. Every one was scurrying around, reading labels quickly deciding
which/what one (?!?) to best pick when his/her name comes up next...

Cutest moment:
Happy Drag baby boy was very well behaved, mostly on Michelle's lap.
Suddenly he was set go loose on the lawn grass (well protected in some kind of a jump suit).
You should have seen him fast-crawling on-all-fours around the yard 'discovering/inspecting' things around!
He reminded me of one of those old fashioned wind-me-up baby tin-toys... Veeery cute!!

Funny/Cute:
Tim's dog knows to eat/scrape pieces of a hamburger right-off a fork from my hand!

Food:
Delicious and abundant; how much can one eat? Same for the deserts....
