One if my gifts this year was a Root Riot system. I've been excited to give it a try since I heard rave reviews about it on the forum. Last year I started my cuttings in moss, but the Riot seems so much easier without the risk of shocking the new roots while transplanting delicate young cuttings. I do not wax my cuttings but it seems to make sence, I'll prob start. When starting the cuttings I gave them a fresh cut on the bottom. Is that necessary? If I wax the bottom, should I cut off the wax before they go in the Root Riot cubes (or moss?).

roots will penetrate the wax, so will the new shoots, don't cut ents before rooting or planting, if you notice the cut ends start developing rough edges where roots will come out from...so, no cutting at all :)

Aaron...good luck with the root riot system...over the years I have tried almost every method that has been discussed on the Forum, and I have settled on the RR system because of it's simplicity, compactness( 50 cuttings in an area 21" x 11" ), minimal root disturbence when uppotting, and very high percentage of rooting success all the way to 1 gal. pots.
