In time of calamity, patience makes one say "Verily we belong to God, and to God we return.”
May the Almighty look after the passengers and their loved ones at home. Ameen

Very sad news. As safe as air travel is, it is still shocking when so many people are involved. Bound to have some Aussies on board also.

My thoughts and prayers are with all passengers and crew and their family members.

It emerged Saturday that two of the names on the flight manifest matched
stolen European passports. Italian and Austrian officials confirmed the names of two passengers were from passports reported stolen in Thailand. U.S. officials told NBC News that they have not ruled out a terrorist attack as a possible cause for the plane’s disappearance.

Not only is this a sad thing, but possible terrorism?  I will be praying for the friends and families of those involved in this tragedy.

At the mention of terrorism, rage is added to this terrible sorrow.  I pray for the loved ones that will have to deal with this.

Witness in trial of Osama bin Laden's son-in-law says that, in 2001, he gave shoe bomb to Malaysian men who wanted to hijack plane

A CO-PILOT at the controls of the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 invited a Melbourne tourist and her friend into the cockpit where he smoked, took photos and entertained the pair during a previous international flight.

Malaysia is hiding too much. They appear to be handling the whole situation very inappropriately. Relatives of the victims must be going through hell.

Malaysia is facing a difficult and sad time now. With the help of 10 countries, 35 planes and 42 ships, we still cannot locate the airplane. All the modern technologies just could not locate MH370. I am sure the authorities will inform us if they have anything at all. The two stolen passports were used by two Iranians who wanted to emigrate to Germany. They have no terrorist connection just two young people who wants to go to Germany. The authorities have to verify every speculations made so there will be no stone unturned. Once the aircraft is found, all the mysteries would hopefully be solved. In the meantime, any wrong words said in the press conference will only hurt the families of the crew members and passengers. What we can do now is only pray. Norhayati

Many words said at the press conferences have unfortunately already hurt the families. They say one thing then back track and say something else, very sad indeed.

can's stand media. news folks are always trying to sell stories. stories like this should be kept to facts only, and not speculating on things they are not certain of. all these talks do not help the families of the victims.

This brings to mind what happened to a friend of mine several years ago. His 2 little boys perished in a house fire that they started with a lighter. The media focused on the fact that he was a smoker and dwelled on it mercilessly. Needless to say it intensified his pain 100 fold and did nobody any good. As if the only people that have lighters in their homes are smokers. Like others rub sticks together to light their candles, BBQ's and fireplaces!

The media IMHO cannot be trusted to tell us the truth on anything anymore, mostly it's speculation on their part to get a "good story" going.

My heart and prayers go out to all involved in this tragedy!

Todays media is nothing but a race.
How often do you hear "We are first to report"? After the *we are the first, it becomes we "were" the first to report.

Integrity, honesty, respect, research and many other things went out the windows long ago.

It's too bad the families and friends of passengers and crew of the flight MH370 have to watch and hear what these media people are doing. All in the name of their *rating.

Just too much drama and less news. Or, just too much news.

Sorry to hear about the boys Tami, heart breaking.

I am trying to console my daughter since her friend is one of the passenger. She's becomes rather quiet these days. She's hoping beyond hope that her friend is safe and well, but told her to prepare for the worst. Norhayati

What you guys have said about the press is correct, they often run with what 'sells'. However in this case, it is the misleading and contradicting information that has been released by the authorities that is at the core of the anger. Not much blame with the press here I must admit. Just peruse the media from numerous sources and you will clearly and quickly realise the unprofessional conduct by the authorities. Frustration has even been expressed on a diplomatic level, not by just the press and the families. It appears the Keystone Cops are on this one unfortunately. Meanwhile, people are suffering further in their grief with unimaginable frustration. Norhayati, I hope your daughter and everyone gets some peace soon.

A very sad event - for all passengers/crew, their families/friends and all of us.
So far, it is all a complete mystery of what exactly happened.

My heart goes out to all affected. It is never easy to handle a tragedy that involves so many people & nations. 3 big powers are involved now -- USA, China & France. It is a unique tragedy and under such circumstances, misrepresentations in words/thoughts can inflict more negatives than good vibes.

Norhayati, I wish your daughter well. Its kind of her to care for her friend. There is a saying, no matter how small a kind deed/kind act is, it is never wasted. So, if she cares for her friend, you can be a proud mum.

If anyone has some spare time you can help with the search by viewing satellite images taken of the area after the disappearance.
