Are those Calimyrna? Tjs is often stocked w local products, if they have it in NY I'll be psyched! |

Just tried them myself yesterday. Smyrna figs... they have a very strong honey taste. I ate a couple frozen- that was really good on a hot day! |

I bet the seeds are still viable and you can germinate them. |

I saw this and called my TJs. A lot of things TJs has in CA they can't get here. They had them so I ran out and got them. Haven't tried one yet. |

The manager of my T.J said, it's in their customer satisfaction policy to take orders for a product that has been listed as T.J product. |

Ok, I bought a bag of those, they look like yours, Aaron. They taste ok but I would choose the dried figs. These are too sweet for me, no acidity, no texture, nothing to chew, like bags of honey. The TJ dried Black Mission is a better money spent. But that is a my verdict only. Good find, though! |

Pete, In the list of the ingredients it only says 'figs', and below: origin of Turkey. No additives, it seems. I cannot imagine the taste is the same as the fresh figs, I couldn't taste much complexity, just honey sweet, very sweet. Also, the taste could be different if the figs were harder. After the ice melted, they became basically the little bags of jelly. I am not bashing the figs, some people like this taste, just not me, sorry. |

I tried one. Mine wasn't even sweet. Just bland and perhaps a little freezer burn. It's the light fig that makes you understand why Martin only likes dark ones. I'll try more later. Hopefully they'll be better. I'm glad I bought them so it will encourage TJs to carry more things fig. TJ's dried Missions are not my cup of tea. If they have large, soft Conadrias those were decent. The smaller and drier the figs are, the less flavor they have. So far the Sprouts dried Turkish figs have been the best preserved figs I've tasted. |

What would be the best use for a frozen fig? Making jam? Baking? I've heard of thawing them out in a glass of white wine... :) |

I'm not looking for cuttings. I'm sure there are plenty whites with honey inside varieties in my collection somewhere... I just need to explore. |
