I think I am just about ready for summer.  Last summer became taxing trying to keep my potted figs  upright and watered.  I  had 3 loads of wood chips dumped at one end of my vegetable garden which I downsized this year and tried to spread about a foot deep. My pots are around half buried which should help a lot retain moisture and keep cool and upright. I don’t know how often I had to set up my pots last year due to winds. Frustrating  when rain came in it’s often preceded by strong wind so even when it rained they did not get water as the pots were down.  I should not have to be dealing with weed between the pots so another dreaded task hopefully avoided. I have to tidy up the irrigation line that weaves in between rows and likely bury the small tubing to each pot, to avoid catching them with my feet, but I am hoping the early effort pays off in much less time keeping watered, weeded and vertical.  I expect to have some rooted well into ground come fall, which might not be fun, but this should be last year in pot for many.  Many I had intended to go into ground this spring, but I guess last winter’s rough go made me chicken out. Now I just need to find additional winter inside storage.  After a couple years that foot of mulch I can work into the garden which should greatly improve my heavy clay soil.

I have room for alot more in ground,  but worried that I will not be able to over-winter in the garage this next year

That's out in front of the house, one end of my vegatable garden, and close to my well.  The 5 acre pasture to my rear is still open. I am having that corner were I plan the barn cleared/leveled presently. Hopefully that barn will be standing come winter and and room finished out as my winter storage area for my potted plants

Looks great! I don't think you'll have any problems in the fall clearing the bark away and cutting the roots that roamed beyond the pot.

Yup, nice set up! I had all my plants set up on a automated watering system last year and man was it nice! I actually had time to enjoy just walking around and staring at my plants instead of always on the move watering them. Now we are building a new house and I will have to start all over again. Back to hand watering this summer but my time is coming. Enjoy it, I know I did!

Thanks for the positive comments folks.  It’s not as organized and neat as many of your setups but hopefully the trees don’t complain.  I have used this basic water setup before, very simple and flexable   which I have reused many times. The small tubing self-seals into a punched hole in the ¾ tubing and the spot spitter sticks insert right in the small tube, if they do clog pop it off then back on. I can water 1 gal and 20 gal on the same line.

Jdfrance,  my winter lows are probably mostly in the 30s, this winter I saw 1F and probably did hit 0F. few other mornings low single digit. The last couple winters in the area much milder and didn’t even hit single digits.  My biggest issue is with late spring cold in high 20s F after everything is active.

Shah,  my upper pasture has probably  300 degree view of mountains. Around my house only during winter some views, but not when forest is leafed out.

Rich,  I had to pull them back in only once after setting out, I am happy with their start this spring, expecting a lot of 1^st time tastes.

Last year was my 1^st summer here only set out  5 in ground figs, but well over 100 other fruiting trees  as of this weekend all the figs are just showing some life from underground, all were gone above ground so there is hope for all those north of me.
