Hi, I purchased a Petite Negra and was looking for suggestions on the best store bought soil to use for my container.  I am a rookie so I am not looking to make my own mix just the best overall store bought soil, Thanks!

Try ProMix HP.

Pro-mix HP with bio-fungicide, mycorrhizae may or may not be beneficial.  Depending on your weather you may need to add a small amount of small pine bark chunks or Napa Floor Dry to keep it from drying out too fast.  If you don't want to mix anything in you might have to water more often.  We can give you the best help if you tell us where you are or what your climate is like.  If it rains frequently you might be better off with the Pro-mix HP without what I suggested above.

Thanks for the help guys.  I live in central IL, I have seen 5B & 6A for my zone.  So Pro-mix HP seems like the way to go, what is the best place to purchase?  I feel that we receive average rainfall but I am not sure really what to compare it to, any general watering tips?  Thanks again!

I use Fertilome UPM and Fafard 3B and I don't add anything. I have lots of heat and afternoon showers off and on.

I'm in 6a/5b and I would only use the Pro-Mix HP for newly rooted cuttings. I use the Pro-Mix BX with Biofungicide for all my trees and don't add anything to it. I still have to water daily.

just use any potting soil, but add a handful or two of perlite and make sure you use mycorrhizae. That stuff really makes the rots boom. I use it on all my plantings now

I use Pro-Mix BX w/mycorrhizae in my SWCs and the trees are exploding with growth.  I also mixed some Osmocote and earthworm castings.  I have 10 SWCs and they all may give me a few sampler figs this year.  These are 2 year old trees and my first year using SWCs.  This picture is ONE tree with 3 branches.

The mycorrhizae is included in the Pro-Mix BX and runs about $30 for a 3.8cu ft compressed bale.

Hi guys I can only find Pro-Mix Hp locally is there much of a difference between HP and BX?  Thanks!
