My 2nd year Vincenzo has a single breba about the size of a ping pong ball that is ripening nicely. These 2 pics were taken on July 1st and 2nd. It had just started to swell a few days before that. I can see it changed colour and drooped a bit just in the last day between the time the pics were taken. Hopefully I can hold off from picking it too early lol. |

That's a good looking fig, I like the pinkish red stripes over the yellow. Let us know how it taste. |

Gorgeous fig! I love the rosy tint on the gold. I got this Vincenzo for my grandson Vincenzo and never saw a picture of it. I didnt even know what color it was. He will be delighted. So many figs with Italian names I might try to collect an orchard of family names. Another excuse to get more figs. I am soooo out of control. |

Since this is the first time I had heard of that variety, I did a search on the forum. Other pics of this fig, both breba and main crop, look much darker. ? due to age of plant or climate? |

Eboone you are right now that I look it up myself. Paully22 posted some pics over on gardenweb awhile back and his was definitely a dark fig. I bought mine from Brugmansia out of quebec. hmmm well we'll see what it looks like on the inside in the next day or 2... |

I got this variety thanks to a very generous forum member ( thank you again!). Our youngest Grandson's name is Vincenzo. He's only 15 mos.old and he loves figs ! My son and daughter in law were amazed that there was a fig named Vincenzo and were thrilled to have one in his name. I'm glad to see the color and look forward to the interior pic and taste profile . |

Here is the leaf pattern of this plant and also a 2nd Vincenzo Breba from a sister plant that was potted together (2 cuttings rooted in same pot from the nursery) that I separated this winter. This one has more red in it. The last pic is a shot from today of the original one. I think it needs a couple more days to shrivel up a bit more.... what does everyone think??? |

I have a tendency of picking figs especially brebas too soon. |

That's almost too pretty to pick! Now that's a beautiful looking fig. Is the rosier of the two more riper than the other? How much is too much droop? |

They are both about the same ripeness in terms of how tender they feel. I think they both could be softer before I pick them. I will post pics of both though once picked and cut open. I will try to hold out for them to drip some honey :) |

Not all figs drip honey but it should hang loosely and be soft before you pick it. definitely not there yet. I wonder if the redder fig is getting more direct sunlight. Both should be protected from critters at this point. |

I waited until I took both to show the final pics. Likely could have waited a few days longer but they were getting soft and afraid I'd lose them. They had a sweet freshing mild taste.. not figgy. Closed eye. The skin was thin. Very nice eating I thought :) |
