This is not a beautiful looking fig. But my Madeleine Des Deux Saisons has about 7 breba on it this year, and this was the first to ripen of all my trees. (Peter's Honey is not far behind... also lots of breba). This is also the first fig I've tasted off of this tree (a third year tree... about 2.5 years old). I have to say, it's much better tasting than you'd expect from the look of it. The flesh is mildly sweet and pleasant tasting. Kind of "pear-like" in its sweetness (comparing to a Bartlett pear). <edit: though not the juiciest ripest Bartlett. :-)> Not overly impressive overall, but way better than its appearance would suggest. And way better than regular brown turkey (though English Brown Turkey is better... just unfortunate that that variety has BT in its name). I'd rate this fig at a 5 and a half or 6 out of 10. Some say it's the same as Angelique, but I'm not so sure of that. Here are pictures: |

Looks good. I've been considering this one for a future acquisition. |

Mike, we pretty much agree on this one. I disliked it so much it no longer resides here. Mine was a 4th year tree in a 15 gal pot. |

I personally do not care about looks or names, it's all about taste. |

I agree on the other characteristics, thanks. Keep us updated when the next round is ready for the taste test. |
